Bitsquid is announcing that their high-end game engine “Bitsquid” will soon be available for licensing on the PlayStation 4.

“We are proud to be a part of this important event and welcome this powerful new console on which we will see many amazing new games.” says Bitsquid CEO Johan Strömberg.

Bitsquid is built to focus on performance, flexibility and productivity, with an estimated 10x leaner code, faster workflows and sub second iterations on multiple devices simultaneously, as well as being usable on a large variety of games and platforms.

Looks like a great engine. Hopefully a lot of titles will license it, from small devs to giants like Bethesda. I want a new Elder Scrolls soon, and after V, maybe GTA VI using this engine for people?

Since the PS4 is based on x86 architecture, we should see AAA games right out of the gate at launch. No more wait until they figure it out to see what can be done.

cool that the ps4 will apparently be better compatible with cross-platform development.
